Core Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional teams through Con Edison's Category Management process to completion, including conducting research and analysis, preparing presentations, and managing project timelines
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, including Procurement Specialists and Business Units to identify and implement category strategies
  • Lead, direct, and manage the category management activities for specific spend categories
  • Collaborate with Category Management team, Procurement Specialists, business units. and other stakeholders on strategy and implementation, and manages supplier relations
  • Drive continuous improvement activities throughout the Category Management process
  • Lead and manage the category analysis activities with particular emphasis on spend analysis and market intelligence activities
  • Develop standards and ensure consistency of process implementation
  • Review Supply Chain planning documentation to assess on-going category requirements
  • Identify and research relevant external market trends with respect to the industry and/or category (or group of categories)
  • Collect, manage, and assess relevant external benchmarks in order to assess Con Edison performance against external benchmarks.
  • Develop the necessary analyses to support the various category management activities
  • Collect and manage category / supplier data including spend data segmentation
  • Monitor new and existing category developments in a timely manner and determine impact on sourcing requirements to ensure a competitive edge
  • Develop impact assessments and analyses based on external benchmarking studies, and/or market trends including, but not limited to, future spend opportunities, category risks, and supplier sustainability
  • Develop impact assessments and analyses based on internal market forecasts and internal requirements
  • Develop forward looking predictive analyses based on industry and/or category trends
  • Support the analysis of end-to-end value chain costs for specific categories
  • Work with Category Manager(s) to define sourcing strategies
  • Manage methodologies and tools for performance analysis activities
  • Drive the accurate and timely distribution of defined procurement reports to appropriate stakeholders
  • Manage the development and distribution of the procurement scorecard including benefits tracking
  • Provide support to Supply Chain on financial performance tools and processes
  • Peform other related tasks and assignments as required

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree And 3+ years of work experience Or
  • Master's Degree And 2+ years work experience

Preferred Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree Preferably in Business, Supply Chain business, Engineering, Science, or other related field
  • Master's Degree Preferably in Business, Supply Chain business, Engineering, Science, or other related field

Licenses & Certifications

  • Driver's License Required
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Preferred
  • Certified Project Management (CPM) Preferred

Physical Demands

  • Must push, pull, lift up to 25 pounds
  • Must sit or stand to answer a phone for entire shift
  • Must sit or stand to use a keyboard, mouse, and computer for entire shift
  • Must be able to read small print and symbols.

Other Physical Demands

  • Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
  • Must be willing and able to travel within Company service territory and supplier locations, some of which may require overnight travel
  • Must be available to perform off-hour emergency buyer functions, some of which may require working extended or non-traditional hours, including weekends and holidays
