Specialist (Work Management) - Transmission Operations

Core Responsibilities

  • The Specialist is responsible for performing or assisting in the development of the Transmission Operation's Work Management Systems (Engage, Geographic Information System (GIS) and DataSplice). The Specialist performs technical assignments of operation of the work management system; which includes administrative functions of Engage, field support for DataSplice and upkeep of the GIS Applications. The Specialist must also work closely with consultants and manage contracts and authorize payments for vendor contracts.
  • Build strategic relationships with the Transmission Operations management team as well as other organizations to ensure the needs of Transmission Operations are addressed.
  • Demonstrate willingness to learn job-related company procedures and computer applications.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, interact with senior management, assist in effective cost management efforts, as well as commitment to diversity and inclusion.
  • Support/Assist department goals by:
  • Develop proactive, customer-centric culture, foster trust and confidence among customers;
  • Update spatial GIS layers to comply with dynamic field conditions;
  • Develop maps and perform analysis utilizing Arc Map;
  • Collect and enter attribute data from various data sources;
  • Perform all other work related to the operation and maintenance of the GIS System;
  • Develop and upkeep interactive instruction guides;
  • Perform work management training to Transmission Operation Personnel;
  • Work with field crews to test and rollout mobile devices;
  • Work with internal/external IT to test software and products;
  • Manage IT Projects and work closely with IT consultant professionals;
  • Develop and upkeep DataSplice Job Plans for overhead and underground inspections;
  • Perform administrative tasks of the Engage Application;
  • Seek opportunities for work management improvements based on customer demands;
  • Develop projects scopes, bid out work packages and authorize payments;
  • Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in either Electrical, Civil or Computer Engineering, or Computer Programming And a minimum of 3 years' experience to include 2 years of full time work experience in the areas of asset management and analysis of the transmission system.

  • Must have the ability to coordinate projects between different organizations;
  • Must have computer literacy and the ability to direct the usage of electronic computer-based analytical simulations;
  • Proficient in MS Office products
  • Experience working productively and effectively in a team environment;
  • Must demonstrate ability to adhere to schedules and meet deadlines;

Other Physical Demands

  • Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
  • Must be able and willing to travel throughout the company service territory as required.
  • Must be able and willing to wear the required PPE as needed.
