Core Responsibilities
- The Technical Associate will be assigned to work collaboratively with all stakeholders to develop procedures and standards for commissioning Protection and Control Systems.
- The Technical Associate will work closely with vendors and consultants to develop, maintain, and update a new Relay Settings Database and create workflows to support this endeavor.
- Work closely with vendors and consultants to update and maintain Con Edison's PSSCAPE database and work with Relay Protection Engineers to modify and update the database and create workflows to support the development of relay settings.
- The Technical Associate will be assigned to work collaboratively with all stakeholders to develop procedures and standards for commissioning Protection and Control Systems.
- The Technical Associate will perform various engineering analysis, evaluate new hardware/software solutions and support deployment of protection system upgrade programs.
- The Technical Associate is expected to support PRSI department in implementing new strategies, initiatives and processes to advance the design, operation and reliability of P&C system.
- The Technical Associate will support activities within other sections of PRSI including protection system standardization and remote monitoring / analytics of substation protection and control devices.
- The Technical Associate will oversee vendors performing work for the department and will provide technical review and input to the contractor's work.
- The Technical Associate must demonstrate analytical ability and the capability to solve problems associated with relay protection systems.
Required Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science/Engineering And one year of full-time or internship experience or 6 months of full-time college cooperative or summer cooperative internships in Con Edison
Relevant Work Experience
- Strong technical competence and willingness to learn. Required
- Computer proficiency to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint). Required
- Data science background is preferred with knowledge of SQL and database management. Preferred
- Ability to write engineering specifications and standards. Preferred
Licenses & Certifications
- Driver's License Required
Other Physical Demands
- Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
- Must be willing and able to travel throughout the company service territory and work at company locations as needed.
- Must be willing and able to wear the required PPE as needed.
- Must be willing and able to work in various indoor and outdoor conditions, and all weather conditions.
- Must be willing and able to work in power plants and high voltage substations.
