Core Responsibilities

  • Support the design and the implementation of the Utility-Owned and Make-Ready energy storage projects across all Con Edison operating regions.
  • Ensures coordination and cross-departmental alignment of energy storage integration, including but not limited to Electric Operations, Central Operations and Shared Services.
  • Develops requests for proposal (RFPs) and contracts for vendor selection and negotiations. Manage contracts and change orders.
  • Develops and maintains operating procedures and specifications for design, integrations/testing, commissioning, operations, and market participation for each energy storage asset.
  • Conducts studies to determine operational parameters for energy storage systems including but not limited to cycling, charge/discharge times, bias, and thermal runaway.
  • Support team on rate case interrogatories
  • Manages the design and building of Civil, Electrical and Mechanical infrastructure needed for DER deployments.
  • Supports the Engineering, Procurement and Construction of both Utility Owned and Make-Ready Energy Storage sites.
  • Coordinates the permitting and commissioning of energy storage systems with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).
  • Oversees vendors and ensures they operate within Company safety, design, and construction practices.
  • Identifies opportunities in collaboration with stakeholder organizations in Customer Energy Solutions, Electric Operations and Central Operations to align processes and procedures, while ensuring alignment with Company requirements, industry regulations and best practices.
  • Conducts research and development to establish and promote best practices across the energy storage community.
  • Support group on presentations and site tours for internal and external stakeholders
  • Support the Hazmat team on all the battery storage sites, as needed
  • Host weekly energy storage
  • Develop and update dashboard for all projects, Project financial reporting
  • Develop NYISO market dispatch protocol for Ozone Park and future similar projects
  • Ensure that site is in complies with the FDNY required fire suppression inspections for Ozone Park
  • Oversee maintenance, operations and emergent issues for the Ozone Park Battery Storage System and future similar projects. Maintain all software and licensing related to the site. Respond to alarm and dispatch issues
  • Work with the Targeted Demand Management team (TDM) to meet Demand management needs
  • Obtain B28 FDNY Certificate of Fitness
  • Performs other related tasks and assignments as required.

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of work experience in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or
  • Master's Degree and 6 years of work experience in Engineering

  • Master's Degree and 6 years of work experience in Engineering

  • Relevant work experience including technical knowledge of Con Edison's electrical system, energy storage systems, project management, and construction. Preferred
  • Experience and/or working knowledge of energy storage systems, policy and planning. Preferred

  • Other: Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed. Required

  • Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
