Core Responsibilities

  • Ensure that safe work practices are followed and the environment is fully protected in accordance with Company policy and governmental regulations.

  • The Engineer will analyze, design and apply electrical controls for substations. This includes controls, metering, alarms, automation and communications.
  • Will prepare construction and equipment purchase specifications.
  • Will review schematic and wiring diagrams, analyze test result data, and provide field support.
  • Requires familiarity with Station DC power systems, fire alarm systems, station alarm systems and relay protection.
  • Requires knowledge working with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition Systems (SCADA), Energy Management Systems (EMS), and Human Machine Interface Systems (HMI)
  • Requires strong technical competence in SCADA systems, networking, and data communications with the ability to be innovative and create efficiency and recognize synergies.
  • Perform special projects and assignments as directed by the Section Manager.

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering

Preferred Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree Electrical Engineering

Relevant Work Experience

  • 3-5 years Experience areas of control systems, SCADA, network communications and/or system integration. Required
  • Requires computer proficiency. Required
  • Requires strong written and verbal communication skills. Required
  • Requires strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with personnel on all levels. Required
  • Experience configuring protection relays, HMI, RTU or network switches. Preferred
  • Experience with IEC 61850 Preferred
  • Coding, scripting, database. Preferred

Skills & Ability

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, etc.
  • Possesses strong technical aptitude

Licenses & Certifications

  • Driver's License Required

Other Physical Demands

  • Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
