Job Description

Core Responsibilities

  • Supervises, instructs, motivates and trains weekly employees assigned to Electric Meter Shop.
  • Develop procedures for the test, initialization, and maintenance of metering devices.
  • Maintains a safe working environment with emphasis on proper functioning of operating equipment and good housekeeping.
  • Supervises the packaging, palletizing, proper labeling and accounting of all electric meters and devices being received or shipped by the meter shop.
  • Supervises the periodic maintenance and calibration of all equipment used in the meter shop.
  • Work and provide support to regions personnel when needed
  • Establish, maintain and set productivity expectations for weekly employees.
  • Prepare plans and assure cross training of employees and documentation on career development progress.
  • Participate in preparing ED3 budget and release of purchase orders and scheduling.
  • Performs supervisory review and reports of "faults" on equipment, electric meters and devices.
  • Advises Section Manager of any variations or problems in Shop Operations.
  • Maintains records and reports of daily, weekly and monthly operating metrics.
  • Maintains open communications with weekly employees and management staff.
  • Identify and establish plans for areas of improvement for the operation of the Meter Shop.
  • Work with suppliers on scheduling and quality issues to maintain the required stock level.
  • Recognizes when overtime work shifts are necessary and is available to supervise those shifts
  • Interact with our vendors who supply materials and equipment to support metering activities
  • Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering perferred. And 2 years of work experience with minimum of 1 year leadership and/or electrical manufacturing/field work/project management experience. Or
  • Associate's Degree in Engineering (Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering preferred) And 4 years of work experience with minimum of 2 years leadership and/or electrical manufacturing/field work/project management experience. Or
  • High School Diploma/GED And 5 years of work experience. minimum of 3-5 years leadership and/or electrical manufacturing/field work/project management experience.

Required Work Experience

  • Leadership ability or supervisory experience. Required
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills. Required
  • Must be computer literate and have the ability to apply practical applications in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Windows Operating systems. Required
  • Strong background in Electronics, Electric and Mechanical, with emphasis on electric meter maintenance, trouble shooting, testing, and fault analysis preferred. Preferred
  • Demonstrated competence in the use and application of computers for the testing, maintenance, and repair of metering equipment preferred. Pref

Licenses & Certifications

  • Driver's License Required

Physical Demands

  • Must respond to system emergencies
  • Must walk, stand, lift, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, and/or reach
  • Must travel to company locations to work on storm restoration and heat contingencies
  • Must use eye-hand coordination to adjust controls on equipment
  • Must wear all necessary personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including; fire retardant clothing and safety harness

Other Physical Demands

  • Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
  • Must be available to work overtime as needed.
  • Must be able to work in a Shop/Industrial environment.
